While writing Marguerite, Misty and Me (my Marguerite Henry biography), my paths crossed online with a woman who is a passionate Wesley Dennis fan. Over the years she's procured scores of his paintings from some of Marguerite Henry's most famous books. King of the Wind? Check. Justin Morgan Had a Horse? Yup. She even has originals from Brighty of the Grand Canyon, The Wildest Horse Race in the World and beloved Sea Star and Stormy, Misty's Foal.
When Wesley's number one fan invited me to her home to see the art, I replied with an enthusiastic yes! I loved the above image of what I'm guessing is a bay Thoroughbred. If you look closely above Wesley Dennis's signature, you can see what perhaps is the name of the horse.
